And how does this new driver work is there any difference between them at all? It also would be a good idea to go to the add and remove programs and uninstall the old wireless utlity as well wouldn't it?

Any noticed improvements with this? I've got a WRT54G router, and I've been using my wireless link since the day I bought it, so more speed would be nice.

i dont notice any improvements over the original ones. the WLan utility has changed a little bit. but i assume they are better since it us an updated version. ill take updated anything when it comes to this notebook. since i think its safe to assume that after 7 bios releases, we wont be getting another one from medion ever again.

I don't use the WLAN utility. It wont allow me to use WPA encryption, so after SP2 I've been using the windows config.

I ended up uninstalling the WLAN utility so that I could enable the WPA encryption. What I miss is the the tray icon that indicates whether or not the RF transmitter is enabled. If the radio is on and I'm on battery, well, I won't be on battery for long.
Is there a relatively easy way of knowing if the radio is on?

If you're talking about the m5310, then the CD-ROM LED is used to indicate the WiFi power status. That may be true for other models as well (although not with the m5305).
